Waiheke Goes Wild On New Café & Bar!25-Nov-2010
Things have gone really wild since Wild on Waiheke opened its new licensed café at Labour weekend which saw more than 500 customers come through the door. Most were there to relax on the deck with a glass of beer and wine and enjoy the fabulous food while the kids had fun in the playground. Owners Rob & Karen Webb said it was the perfect weather for our opening weekend and wonderful to see many locals coming in to support us. There were a number of groups who visited on the Saturday coming back again on the Sunday and Monday because they had enjoyed their experience so much. We received lot’s of positive feedback from Mum’s and dad’s about the venue being so kid friendly – a lot of them could not remember the last time they could relax at a café without having to worry about the kids. Chef Jacob Nanai has put together a fantastic menu which focuses on fresh local produce and has been perfectly matched to our range of wines and craft beers made on the premises. The gourmet pizzas are made fresh to order and the bases contain a not-so secret ingredient – one of our Waiheke Island Brewery beers! The Gourmet pies are not your ordinary meat pie – they are made locally by Patrick (from Ringawera Lavosh bread fame) using the freshest of ingredients and the meat marinated in one of our beers or wine. A popular choice from the menu has been the Waiheke platter for two - featuring a selection of Te Matuku Bay oysters, cured meats, grilled vegetables, olives, cheeses etc and great value at $24. A kids menu is also available.
The addition of a café to this already unique venue which is home to Waiheke Island Brewery and Topknot Hill vineyard creates the perfect one-stop experience. Whether you are looking for a casual lunch or drink with friends, fun amongst the vines with archery and laser claybird shooting activities, tastings of our wines and beers at the cellar door or sampling local products in the Taste Waiheke area. With Christmas less than 6 weeks away, why not treat your staff to a Christmas lunch at Wild on Waiheke – and take advantage of the free activities such as petanque, giant chess and volley ball. Their Taste Waiheke shop has one of the islands largest range of local products, art and craft for sale – perfect for Christmas gifts or buy Wild on Waiheke vouchers.
With the Christmas party and wedding season approaching why not consider ordering a keg of Waiheke Island Brewery beer to impress your guests. We can supply all the equipment which includes the “Barrel Bar” to dispense the beer and we are happy to connect everything up for you so it is ready to pour straight from the tap. Kegs come in 30 and 50 litres and a range of bar set ups are available to suit the size of your groups.
