We've adopted a second team
09-Sep-2011Wild on Waiheke are really going wild with rugby as part of the "Adopt a second team" initiative being held all around the country and including Waiheke Island. It doesn’t mean we are not supporting the All Blacks, just getting into the spirit of the RWC so visitors to the island, no matter what team they support, are made to feel welcome.
We have been allocated South Africa as our adopted team and have some delicious South African food items on the daily specials board including Braa Bord (BBQ plate) – consisting of tasty selection of Boerewors (south African sausage), Sosaties (kebabs), Kummel Pap, also known as Pok n Ko (porridge which is similar to Cous Cous in look and consistency) and Stamp Mielies (samp & beans).
We will also be bring a bit of rugby to our activities where participants can earn bonus points for bursting All Black balloons attached to the archery targets or losing points for hitting an All Black emblem with an arrow. Have your photo taken with a large cardboard cut out of Richie Macaw.
